For those of you who click on the links to look at my pictures... good news! Aimee spotted a problem with my links and everything is fixed. If you would like, you can go back through my last 3 posts and view the pictures now! Thanks again, Aimee!
onesies, cameras, and twinkies
For Father's Day/our anniversary (which I know haven't happened yet), I got a gift idea for Robert from my friend Aimee. I loved the idea, especially because it allowed me to go buy more baby clothes. :) I bought a cute little onesie that says "COOL just like Daddy". I also bought a cute jacket, a striped onesie, and khaki shorts... all for $22! Robert loved the Daddy onesie.

For Mother's Day/our anniversary, Robert decided to get me a new camera! I have been bugging him about it for months, but didn't think I was getting my need for a new camera through to him. He didn't understand why I needed a new camera when the one I have works just fine (for all of you photographers out there, I am sure you understand needing to upgrade size of megapixels... duh!). After he told me about the gift, he gave me a budget to work within... Given an amount, I researched several different makes and models and finally settled on a Canon Powershot A590IS. Maybe one day I can advance onto an SLR, but for now I am content with my advanced digital. We picked up the camera on Memorial Day! This is the first shot that I took:

Later on that day, we went over to Robert's parents' house for a BBQ and Family Home Evening. Part of our lesson involved communicating with others in order to built a twinkie tower. The tower had to be at least 3 inches off of the ground, using ONLY plastic silverware and had to be able to support 10 twinkies for 5 minutes. We were given 8 forks, 8 spoons, and 8 knives. The teams were chosen by my niece, Noelia, and my nephew, Diego; it ended up being boys vs. girls. And the girls ruled! The guys started cheating, using clothing and cups to help support the twinkies... Our tower was totally legit! In the end, Lisa and I took charge and plowed through, but we had help from some of the other ladies in the family. Poor Cami! Everytime she tried to help, the tower collapsed and we would have to start over. But we appreciated her help anyway! It was fun and entertaining.

half baked
Yesterday was a great day for me; my bestest best friend Jodi (who got married then immediately moved to no-where, Florida) arrived for her visit to AZ (Jodi's visit is mainly to visit a friend in Tucson who is graduating from U of A). I met her at the airport with our friends Carter and Nikki. It was awesome seeing her after so long! She was so excited to see me; she left when I got pregnant so she has only seen my growing bump via webcam. Jodi, Nikki, and I went out to eat with Jodi's in-laws. The food was great; I ate SO MUCH. Afterwards, the three of us went swimming. We were going to spend the rest of the evening watching 27 Dresses (Robert was SO excited), but we were nearly passed out and skipped on the movie. That night, right before going to bed, I let Jodi feel the baby move. Her eyes got HUGE and she started squirming and giggling once little Joel kicked me. After running some essential post-wedding errands this morning, Jodi and Nikki left for Tucson for the remainder of the weekend. She will be back Sunday evening, so I will probably have more pictures later...

On another note... I hit my half way mark in the pregnancy! It feels great to know that I am closer to giving birth than I am to having gotten pregnant (I still pray he isn't a week late like my hubby was...)! To "celebrate", I did some special pregnancy pictures with my friend, Aimee. The tag on my tummy says "1/2 Baked". Jodi likes to tell me that I am a baby cooker, so I figured the phrase half baked fit perfectly!

sweet and simple
Sometimes the world gives us annoyances; for my dad, that would be his Jacaranda tree. It looks gorgeous when in full bloom; purple flowers everywhere. Unfortunately, those purple flowers everywhere include his yard. The ground is covered in dried purple flowers by the end of spring. They get in the house, the car, everywhere! I decided to make something beautiful of the mess the other day while over at my parents' house; I made a pretty purple heart!

Today, when Robert got home from work, I realized we looked like "goody two shoes"; he was clad in powder blue and khaki, I in petal pink and khaki! It made me laugh. Since the two of us are techinically three, I pulled out a light green onesie for our future baby Joel and snapped some shots.

baby and ducks
Well, to begin the post... Robert and I found out what we are having. A baby. Just kidding, we already knew that (though I would debate that it feels more like an alien). But we will be having a baby boy. In fact, that was the FIRST thing we saw with the ultrasound; our baby was balancing on his head with his butt in the air. The ultrasound was so fun! I enjoyed watching my baby kick me... For those of you with patience, I put the video up. It runs about 3 minutes... the best part is in the middle when he pushes off the side of me to flip over. I thought it would make it more real when I felt the baby kicking, but it honestly feels like an alien trying to break through me. The ultrasound was what made it more real.

When we got home from the doctor, we were baffled by two ducks next to our apartment. There is a lake next to the complex, but we live in the middle of the complex so ducks don't generally wander around near us. I grabbed some popcorn and fed the ducks for a while. I love ducks.

d-backs
We went to the Dbacks game with Jess & Cami and Michael & Stacy. How fun! Free hats to the first 35,000 guests. Score! I was a little put out when we arrived; our seats were directly in the sun and I didn't bring sunscreen or much water. I was dehydrated and nearly passed out, but I blame that on the pregnancy. After getting a refreshing beverage, I was able to better enjoy myself while working on my tan... er sunburn. During the 7th inning stretch, Robert and Jess caught two of the t-shirts thrown to the crowd (poor Michael... nothing to show). We finished off the game by going out to Chili's for dunch/linner. Go Dbacks!

something new
Well... I haven't posted for a while and I know how I get frustrated when my friends haven't made any new posts so viola! Recently, no new changes have come across our path. We are both continuing on in school; the end of the semester is only a few weeks away! Robert will probably be at ASU next semester and I will be graduating from ASU in December! Robert is working hard at the credit union and may have the opportunity to receive a new position (but we won't jinx that yet). We are looking into moving into either a condo, townhome, or house... something in which to build equity. We may wait until this semester is over so as to save ourselves the stress of school, work, AND moving. I am now three months pregnant and feeling relatively great (but everyone knows I always find something to complain about). The only difficulty thusfar with pregnancy is NOT being ablt to fit in any of my clothes. Looks like it is time for Robert to invest in a maternity wardrobe...

cow
Robert and I had the pleasure of spending the day at the Pinal County fair... Overly exciting. My cousin Kristen was showing her cow at the auction. Other than the fact that we were in the middle of NOWHERE with not much to do, it wasn't that bad. Since my family arrived a few hours early - Kristen was number 257-, my mom and I took off to look around. We covered the fair grounds in less than 10 minutes. Not too much to see. We had lunch, nachos and an icee for me, before heading back to the auction area. A little later, Robert and I took off with the intent of riding the ferris wheel. We never actually made it there, but we did see the rabbits, goats, and a goose. There was still an hour to go when we returned. My mom and I snuck up close to watch the auctioning; the auctioneer was amazing! There were some beautiful steers and swine, but most were going for low prices. A few minutes before Kristen was up, her cow got away while she was trying to untie him. Apparently, the cow took off for the parking lot and my cousin and aunt had to tackle him to get him to come back! My cousin's turn finally came around 5:30... She only got $1.25 per lb. The top steer went for around $6 per lb. She raised enough to pay off the food debt for the cow. Meh. What an exciting day.

utah
Robert and I were fortunate enough to go to Utah this past weekend. We left Friday morning, stayed at Seth & Joyelle's, visited family & friends, and came home Monday evening. The drive up was fairly uneventful; at least until we got to Provo. Utah has insane drivers! We nearly got killed when a car decided to merge on top of us without signaling. Friday night was spent catching up with Seth and Joyelle... and making Little Seth smile. He is such a happy baby! ... Well, until he gets hungry. Then he makes all sorts of funny noises. Saturday morning we did a session in the Provo temple. New temples are always a fun experience, but sometimes they can be confusing. After our session, we drove to South Ogden to visit my friends Lorraine & Daiane. Lo & Dai are both Brasilian; Dai married an American and moved to Utah while Lo still lives in Brasil. I haven't seen Lo in about 5 or 6 years, so I insisted on this visit! We went out to Applebee's and then to this awesome place called Fat Cats. Fat Cats has indoor rock climbing, surfing, sky diving, as well as bowling, glow golf, and an arcade. We watched the indoor sky diving for a while; CRAZY!!! We played a game of glow golf; some of us were better than others. :) We spent the remainder of the evening at Dai's house recalling old memories and talking about Brasil. We got to sleep in Sunday morning. Robert went to choir practice with Seth and Joyelle while I stayed home and watched Little Seth. Luckily, everyone came home when he started to get fussy. I was a little distracted at church; what with the over-active children and the little boy on a leash (he would pull as far as he could and fall over). I saw an old friend from high school, Ruth. We only stayed for sacrament because I was feeling poorly. The rest of the day was spent talking with Seth and Joyelle. Robert had fun bring up old memories with Seth about their childhood. Joyelle and I just laughed at how silly the Roots were as children. The ride home Monday was also uneventful. We visited with family once we made it into town. As fun as it was to be visitng in Utah, it as nice to come home to our house and sleep in our bed. Thanks Seth and Joyelle for your hospitality!
