Ps. I have one more month until baby boy #3 arrives. It cannot come soon enough (for SO many reasons).

We went to the zoo. Yet again. This is what happens with a zoo membership; you spend as much time at the zoo as anywhere else. This time Robert came with us. A majority of the time was spent at the splash pad. Why is it so hot in mid-April? Better question, how are we going to survive the summer?! Water. Lots of water.

halfsies

These boys have reached their half birthdays recently and were BOTH rewarded with a visit to the doctor (Lucas for a well check, Joel for health issues). Lets start with the stud on the left.
JOEL:
Height: 37 inches (75th percentile)
Weight: 30 lbs (50th percentile)
Joel has become quite the communicator. Recently, his favorite thing to express is his preference in the opposite of what you want him to do (brush your teeth = "no brush your teeth", take a bath = "no take da bath"). His memory is borderline infallible. With the exception of yellow, he learned his colors after being given an example once or twice (he even correctly remembers car color, eye color, object color, etc. of certain people and things with only being told once or twice). In conjunction with his memory, his sense of direction is eerily dead-on. A YEAR ago, we had dinner at a Mexican restaurant in Chandler. Three months ago, when passing by the restaurant (for the first time since eating there), Joel began pointing and saying, "chips, chips" (which, of course, was what he ate for dinner at said restaurant a year ago). Joel notices things; he prefers to observe before jumping in. He is also showing signs of being OCD, which can be just as difficult as it is rewarding (he is the cleanest 2.5 yr old I know when it comes to eating a meal). He is our little brain.
LUCAS:
Height: 31 inches (25th percentile)
Weight: 26 lbs (50th percentile)
Lucas is our "100% boy", through and through. Messy. Loud. Clumsy. Curious. Destructive. Unlike Joel, Lucas could care less about learning basics like letters, numbers, colors, & shapes. Instead, Lucas prefers to learn to do things with his hands (he learned to stack legos BEFORE Joel learned). He is a quasi-climber; Joel's naturally obedient demeanor has kept Lucas grounded from climbing on most things. We occasionally find him on top of certain furniture (such as the changing table, the piano, backs of chairs...), but luckily it is not a daily battle. Lucas is a button-pusher, testing Mommy nearly every day (or hour). He has no fear; he likes to test the limit and is enthralled with being on the edge. Unfortunately, this applies with discipline, too. Lucas looks at you bold face while being reprimanded... and often walks away unphased even when punished. He is anything BUT OCD, which pains Mommy when it comes to cleanliness (he would rather turn his food into finger paint and body art than eat it). He is our little psycho.

...
Haven't blogged in a while. Which is probably better for all of us. Need to find my happy place. Then I will be back. Hopefully that happens soon, for my sake (and the sake of my husband and children).

Fishies
Weekends can be VERY long at our house. Our boys are at that non-stop whining phase when Daddy is home; they are constantly fight each other for his attention. To ease the stress, we try to get out as much as possible. This past weekend, we decided to check out Sea Life Aquarium (at Mills Mall). Don't know if it was COMPLETELY worth the money, but it WAS fun. The boys were enthralled by all of the different creatures.

friends
I had the chance to visit with a bunch of girlfriends from high school the weekend before last. During the day on Saturday, we had a play date at the park. During the evening, we had a dinner date at Olive Garden followed by a girls' night. SO fun. It was great seeing you girls!

sin city
I spent 4 days last week in Vegas. Sunday through Wednesday. IT. WAS. INCREDIBLE. I was at a professional photographers' conference (WPPI) with my friend Angie. Photography; morning, noon, & night. Classes. Trade show. Application. We averaged about 5 hours of sleep each night; all other time was spent on photography. I learned so much that there are times when I STILL think my brain might explode from the overload. While the day was great because it was full of so much information & learning, the nights were better because we experimented with our cameras on the Strip. Like... for hours (hence not much sleep). We saw a lot of... interesting... things. And by interesting, I mean down right freakish.

Cotton Candy was my favorite...

Ode to Love
I might get in trouble for this since Leigh has already posted today, but I thought that I would share some thoughts.
Since being a parent of two with another on the way, we have had to manage our money a little more. Therefore, we really didn't do much for Valentine's Day this year. Leigh likes surprises, so I want everyone to know how much I love my dear wife. And I can say that I did give her a present (though I don't know why she would need anything else - I should be present enough).
For those of you who know Leigh, you all know how wonderfully talented she is. She takes on any project that seems interesting to her (scrapbooking, crafts, party planning, photography, etc) and just seems to have a knack at excelling at them. Which is good for us, because if it were up to me, our house would be pretty bare. And one color.
Leigh is also a person filled with emotion. If you upset her, she gets quite upset. But when someone is lucky enough to become her friend, they have a friend for life. I was the lucky guy that snatched her up first. I know that when I get home, I have a loving wife waiting for me, excited for me to return home.
Leigh is also a wonderful mother. Unfortunately, I feel that this last one gets overlooked often. People come to expect certain things from women, and one of those is to be a mother. Let me tell you, it is hard work. I get exhausted just being with my boys for three hours in the evening. I can't imagine how a whole day would drain someone. But Leigh has done a wonderful job of raising two beautiful boys. I couldn't be more proud of my children, and the reason why they are the way they are is because of their mom.
There is more that I could mention, but it is 11:45 at night and my wife might be wondering why I haven't made it upstairs yet. Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
