These boys have reached their half birthdays recently and were BOTH rewarded with a visit to the doctor (Lucas for a well check, Joel for health issues). Lets start with the stud on the left.
JOEL:
Height: 37 inches (75th percentile)
Weight: 30 lbs (50th percentile)
Joel has become quite the communicator. Recently, his favorite thing to express is his preference in the opposite of what you want him to do (brush your teeth = "no brush your teeth", take a bath = "no take da bath"). His memory is borderline infallible. With the exception of yellow, he learned his colors after being given an example once or twice (he even correctly remembers car color, eye color, object color, etc. of certain people and things with only being told once or twice). In conjunction with his memory, his sense of direction is eerily dead-on. A YEAR ago, we had dinner at a Mexican restaurant in Chandler. Three months ago, when passing by the restaurant (for the first time since eating there), Joel began pointing and saying, "chips, chips" (which, of course, was what he ate for dinner at said restaurant a year ago). Joel notices things; he prefers to observe before jumping in. He is also showing signs of being OCD, which can be just as difficult as it is rewarding (he is the cleanest 2.5 yr old I know when it comes to eating a meal). He is our little brain.
LUCAS:
Height: 31 inches (25th percentile)
Weight: 26 lbs (50th percentile)
Lucas is our "100% boy", through and through. Messy. Loud. Clumsy. Curious. Destructive. Unlike Joel, Lucas could care less about learning basics like letters, numbers, colors, & shapes. Instead, Lucas prefers to learn to do things with his hands (he learned to stack legos BEFORE Joel learned). He is a quasi-climber; Joel's naturally obedient demeanor has kept Lucas grounded from climbing on most things. We occasionally find him on top of certain furniture (such as the changing table, the piano, backs of chairs...), but luckily it is not a daily battle. Lucas is a button-pusher, testing Mommy nearly every day (or hour). He has no fear; he likes to test the limit and is enthralled with being on the edge. Unfortunately, this applies with discipline, too. Lucas looks at you bold face while being reprimanded... and often walks away unphased even when punished. He is anything BUT OCD, which pains Mommy when it comes to cleanliness (he would rather turn his food into finger paint and body art than eat it). He is our little psycho.
