A shorter entry. And by short, you know it will still be long. At this point in the trip, I was so exhausted every night that I would fall asleep while journaling despite my best efforts at staying awake. Which is why I have a difficult time journaling now. Just a different type of exhaustion.
July 11th, 2006"The things that happened at Mungassa were CRAZY! We had to carry our supplies from the Landrover to the site - a tough job. I jumped right in and put a huge bundle of reed grass on my head and followed Stacy down the path... I spent the greater majority of our time in Mungassa tying grass. I worked with several little boys that were speed demons! We went from a community center skeleton to a community center with walls! It was crazy how many people were helping us! At one point, I went back with Eric to grab some more supplies. I just lifted a bundle of grass right up over and on top of my head! I was glad that I was able to accomplish that!
***"Our team started out at ASEM with the parachute. The kids ate it up! They loved running underneath the chute while screaming and chasing one another. I only played for so long before taking a step back and soaking it all in. I took several pictures of the kids with the parachute. Dote came and found me, as well as Joanna and Luisa. Soon, I was sitting on the ground with Jessica, Jenna, and Nikki. The four of us were receiving hair braids. It hurt so bad when the girls pulled our hair!

(most likely spelled Elena) is probably what I miss MOST about Africa. Like I said, I was seriously in love with that little girl. If I were in a situation where I could, I would adopt that darling without hesitation. When I tear up reminiscing about Africa, you can be sure she was one of the first things to cross my mind. And yes, I do have pictures of her. Not ready to share them yet.

Looking at your posts of Africa makes me have that desire to help everyone that is suffering or in need. All children deserve a happy childhood. That is wonderful that you could help them be happy for the time you were there.
I am envious of your trip- what an amazing thing to have been able to do! Maybe someday I can go and do something exciting like that.
So amazing!!! What an incredible experience. 2006 was quite the year for traveling, wasn't it. I am so a major supporter of women taking epic trips before getting married. Glad you did! Pics are awesome, im so glad you were able to recover them.
